The Unveiling of Cullinan Masterpiece – A Heritage in Bloom

The month of September saw the unveiling of a very important diamond studded into a precious necklace, which brought together three prominent names from the jewellery industry. Cut and polished by one, graded by another and set into jewellery by an artist.

The largest jeweller in Hong Kong, Chow Tai Fook, started a journey five-year ago by acquiring a 507.55-carat Type IIA rough diamond known as the Cullinan Heritage in 2010. A spectacular 104-carat diamond was expertly cut and polished out of the rough by master craftsmen at Chow Tai Fook, with the meticulous process taking three years to complete.

Long-standing Forevermark Diamantaire and Authorised Forevermark Jeweller carried out stage two of this journey. The diamond was graded and inscribed with the Forevermark icon and identification number by some of the world’s most accomplished diamond graders and gemmologists at the Forevermark Diamond Institute in Antwerp.

The beauty of diamond is at its peak when set in a jewellery piece that is worthy of such a diamond. Renowned jewellery designer Wallace Chan played the final and the most integral role of the journey of this exceptional diamond. “A Heritage in Bloom” is one of the most significant diamond masterpieces as it uses the entire family of all 24 DIF diamonds cut from the Cullinan Heritage rough diamond, epitomizing creativity and intricate artistry emerging from contemporary China. The necklace brings together thousands of white diamonds and hundreds of pink diamonds, totaling 383.4 carat, as well as more than one hundred pieces of green jadeite and mutton fat white jade. Uniquely modular, it can be worn in 27 different styles, showcasing the sophistication of the design and exquisite composition that is beyond comparison.
